南韓中東呼吸症候群冠狀病毒感染症（MERS-CoV）疫情不斷擴大，累計至昨早已達50名病例，疾病管制署昨發布病毒初步比對結果，認為韓籍病例的病毒株與以往其他病毒差異不大，變異僅在1％至2％的正常範圍，不影響傳播力。
中國官方從飛往廣東的韓籍病例身上採集到病毒，並將病毒基因公布於國際基因資料庫。
疾管署研檢中心比對美國國家生物技術資訊中心（NCBI）病毒基因庫85株病毒資料，初步認為與其他MERS-CoV病毒同源性相當高；並無基因重組現象，只有小幅變異。
疾管署副署長周志浩表示，小幅變異包括結構蛋白有3個變異，其他則與另85株病毒完全相同；非結構蛋白則有16個胺基酸變異；至於病毒蛋白功能（病毒毒性）是否變異，待進一步了解。
